 Community Mental Health

For members of the community who suffer from a mental illness, the resource and support network provided by our Community Mental Health Services are invaluable. With an emphasis on front line service, this team reaches all areas of Renfrew County, providing case management, crisis response, court support, Assertive Community Treatment Team, support for families and consumers, social and recreational programming, advocacy, and life skills. These programs help to maintain and improve client functioning, reduce hospital admissions, and raise awareness about mental illnesses. Day Programs are located in Pembroke, Renfrew, Arnprior and Barry’s Bay.

To make a referral or request additional information, please call (613) 732-8770 or 1-800-991-7711. Additionally, in the event of an immediate crisis, a Mental Health Crisis Line is available at 1-866-996-0991, 24 hours daily, 7 days a week.

Renfrew County Geriatric Mental Health Outreach Program

The Renfrew County Geriatric Mental Health Outreach Program provides comprehensive assessments for persons over the age of 65 years of age experiencing mental health problems. In order to receive a consult, the family physician must make the referral. Older people suffering from behaviour/personality changes, manic or depressed mood, psychosis, anxiety, memory loss and medication review can benefit from a consultation.

The team includes Geriatric Psychiatrists from the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Care Group who partner with the team to provide this service. Follow up visits are provided as required. There is no cost for this service; a health card number is required.

All Renfrew County residents who qualify for the service will be seen in the area of the County where they live. Education and training is also provided to professionals and families on a variety of geriatric psychiatry topics.

We are privileged to be able to assist patients in meeting their health care needs. If you have questions, comments or concerns, please call us at (613) 735-6500 or 1-877-260-0535, or contact us by fax at (613) 735-4638.
