Emergency

On arrival at the Emergency Department, you will see the triage nurse.

The triage nurse assesses the seriousness of your condition and the urgency of your health care needs.

Based on this information staff sets priorities for treatment.

Until a treatment room and physician become available, you are asked to take a seat in the waiting room.

The Pembroke Regional Hospital has a "doctor-on-call" 24 hours a day, seven days a week. "On-call" means a doctor is available but not always on the premises.

You will be seen by doctor on call. When it is your turn, the nurse will direct you to the treatment area where the doctor will assess you.

If your condition changes and/or you have concerns, please report to the triage nurse immediately.

Patients are not treated in the order in which they arrive. As this is an Emergency Department, we treat the critically ill or injured patients immediately.

Depending on your condition, you may have to wait until the emergency physician is available to see you.

A patient requiring urgent medical care can arrive at any time, so things can change.

If at any time you need more help, please ask. Our staff is committed to professional and technical excellence. We will provide you with the best care possible within the limits of our resources.

IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS, COMMENTS OR CONCERNS, PLEASE ADDRESS THEM TO:
