Ambulatory ClinicsThe Ambulatory Clinic includes not only clinical support for procedures and treatments but also assessment and teaching programs: Pre-operative Assessment Clinic (POAC); Diabetic Clinics for both adults and children. The POAC provides services Monday to Friday to ensure patients; readiness for surgery. Diabetic Clinics are a valuable service to assist diabetics in the area to manage their medical condition effectively, to prevent complications and to promote wellness.
Another exciting service in Ambulatory Clinics is the Outpatient Telehealth services offered in collaboration with the Ottawa Heart Institute. Outpatient Telehealth provides direct cardiac assessment to cardiac patients, consultations and dialogue with a cardiologist. Using the new technology, patients can be assessed without travelling to Ottawa and treatment can be promptly altered or initiated and testing can also be carried out without delay. The new year will see many new programs and services added, e.g., pain clinic; cardiac rehabilitation; holter monitor; B/P machine monitor and pacemaker clinics. With more and more focus towards ambulatory care, all staff are working hard to meet demands and changes. Mary Christie-Wong Director, Ambulatory Clinics (613)732-3675, EXT. 6167
