Intensive Care UnitThe decision to admit or transfer a patient to the Critical Care Unit is generally made by medical staff in consultation with nursing staff to permit closer observation. In this unit, the room is shared with someone of either gender. The nursing staff aim to provide patients with the highest quality of care which is centered around all needs: physical, psychological, social and spiritual. Patient and/or family participation is strongly encouraged in decision-making regarding treatment and all aspects of health care. To ensure optimum care for all patients in the unit, we require patient/family cooperation. Visitations are restricted to the Hospital's Visiting Hours. Visitors are are asked to check with the nurse on arrival and limit stay to 30-minutes. A lounge area is available nearby for immediate family for periods between visits. If special considerations are necessary, please inform the nurse on duty.
