N-12-20 Payroll Clerk - Human Resources (Part-Time .5 FTE)

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Payroll Clerk will provide a variety of support functions in payroll department.

The incumbent may be required to cover the payroll specialist role.

 

Major payroll responsibilities will include:

  • Review and process payroll entries in accordance with the rules of the Collective Agreements, and Employment Standards Act (ESA) rules on an ongoing basis
  • Ongoing support to employees on all Payroll related inquiries & issues
  • Process documents for payroll exceptions
  • Collect reimbursements of payroll advances in accordance with collective agreements
  • Assist with all payroll process; including ROEs, third party remittance, source deductions for CRA
  • Prepare and distribute ad hoc reports
  • Maintain personnel and payroll filing
  

 

  • Investigate discrepancies between worked and paid hours and make appropriate corrections

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University Degree or 3 year College Diploma in Business, Finance or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or working toward PCP
  • Minimum one year payroll or bookkeeping experience
  • Previous experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) application and payroll systems
  • Experience working with staffing software is an asset
  • Working knowledge of labour legislation and collective agreement interpretation
  • Experience in dealing with the public, handling time sensitive inquiries, and working in a deadline-driven environment is required
  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word,)
  • Excellent research and analytical skills and capabilities, with experience in preparing reports
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, organization skills and ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision

  • Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital
  • Bilingualism is an asset
