Week 8 and Week 9 Catch the Ace Winners Take Home Combined Winnings Of $18,293

17/8/2026

A last-minute ticket purchase turned into a big win for Wendy Tabbert, who was announced as the Week #9 winner of the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation's Catch the Ace lottery, taking home $9,617.

Tabbert, who was also a PRH Foundation Catch the Ace winner six years ago, nearly missed her chance this time around. As she was getting ready for bed on draw night, she realized ticket sales were set to close in less than 30 minutes.

She quickly logged on to purchase her tickets and, the very next day, learned she was the week's lucky winner.

It was also an exiting win for Katherine McLaughlin the week before as she took home the Week #8 weekly price of $8,676.

This year's lottery continues to set a remarkable pace, with community support driving some of the largest weekly prizes ever seen at this stage of a PRH Foundation Catch the Ace draw.

Just nine weeks into the lottery, weekly prizes are now more than two-and-a-half times higher than they were at the same point in previous PRH Foundation Catch the Ace rounds, creating unprecedented excitement among participants across Ontario.

The growing enthusiasm is also having a dramatic impact on the jackpot. If the Ace of Spades is found in this week's draw, the jackpot is expected to surpass $130,000, adding even more anticipation as the lottery enters another exciting week.

"This round of Catch the Ace has surpassed anything we anticipated at this stage," said Roger Martin, Executive Director of the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation. "We're seeing participation levels and weekly prize amounts that are significantly ahead of previous rounds, and that support is translating into real impact for patient care. That's something our entire community can be proud of."

The ongoing success of Catch the Ace is helping support the Foundation's Together, We Care Campaign, which funds priority equipment and technology needs at Pembroke Regional Hospital. Thanks to the incredible response from the community, the campaign has already achieved its goals of funding the final three Acute Mental Health Security Beds and a new lighting system for the Labour and Delivery Department. The campaign is now focused on funding 11 stretchers for departments throughout the hospital, representing an investment of approximately $170,000 that will support patient care across multiple areas of PRH.

With weekly prizes continuing to climb and the possibility of a jackpot exceeding $130,000 this week, excitement surrounding Catch the Ace has never been greater.
